Would a strike through cause the doubling of back of Lincoln's head? And does the C in CENT seem slightly lower?

Based on your pic I would say your coin is PMD post mint damage (not a mint error).

Damage to the obverse and reverse looks normal. JMHO.

Too bad about the damage (that gouge that runs from IN and down the back of his head.) As 32-D is a good date. The color of the reverse indicates it may have been cleaned, also a bummer.

Lol...figured it's been through washing machine rollers back in the day when hanging clothes to dry was the routine before dryer's. And a couple trips down the toilet and sewer sytems...

I have a 1941 DD but someone at some point tried to acid wash it. I dont know for sure but the color will last decades if not forever once its done. So frustrating!

My brother who passed away in 1975 was a collector also. He used a rubber erasure to clean wheat cents and they still look the same today decades later. But I kept them anyways because they were his.

The color of the coin is really a common look for cents of this age.
