Can't find anything about this medal - anyone know anything about it?

Half Dollar sized. Looks like gilded bronze.

Obverse: "HOOVER DAM" over an image of the Dam, above "LAS VEGAS / NEVADA"

Reverse: " "TO COMMEMORATE / THE STARTING / OF THE / $165,000,000.00 / BOULDER CANYON / PROJECT" over 3 crossed shovels with the date. A partial wreath stretches from 8:00 to 4:00, partially occluded by the shovels.

No, I hadn't seen those. I forgot to do a search for closed auctions.

Apparently this is a Whitehead & Hoag medal? Cool.

    Any idea about the mintage?

I'm curious about why these were made. Perhaps they were distributed to workers on the project? Or investors?
