I came across this Mercury Dime and the details are sharper than what I’ve seen on MS67 examples. I know many earlier issues had a stronger strike, but the hair on this coin looks incredible. I think it’s like detail is there in the hair that I’ve never even seen before. Also note the shape of the nose. I’m concerned that this coin may be a counterfeit. What do you all think? I don’t have the desired pictures at this time, this is all I have, but I will be able to post better pictures later. Also perhaps the angle of the coin in the pictures contribute to the sharp look? Thanks everyone.
Based on the pics I think so. Looks to me like on the obverse, near the date, there is some fingerprint from previous handling. Don't try to get it off. This happens on some coins, they pick up fingerprints and that's that.
Oh for sure, 99% it will get full bands attribution when I submit it. It’s incredible. I just hesitated because it seemed too good to be true.
Really nice strike!! It's probably fresh dies and a lot of pressure. I came across a couple on PCGS that have comparable strike. I don't think it's a counterfeit, I think it's genuine. Here's one:
Looks good to me, and yes to the FB. Not a key date, but at almost 26 million, finding one in MS65/66 with full bands can bring nice money.
