I like this penny . I say Mint State possibly even . I'm just not quite sure about the Nicks on the edges on both sides . Value ranges between approx. ( AU58) $5 -$47 (MS64) .
I agree looks mid au to low ms like that toned woodie effect on the reverse your coin is worth $5-$25.
Nice woodie reverse mid au coin it definitely has been messed with toning removed or pvc damage rim scrapes and scrapes on the cheek. Nice album coin filler I highly doupt it grade. ....In what universe is that mint state? Once again giving advise that is no way correct...!
Not sure what is going on around the Y. If it is just toning, AU $4. When there are over 50 nicks and scratches on the rims, I find it difficult that it is MS, even though it is a lovely looking coin.
Thank you! I don't even know what pile I found it in, but I know enough that it has so much detail present. Thank you everyone!
Those obverse rim dings at 6 o'clock will keep her out of MS territory. Appears to have had an old cleaning as well. But, it is a well struck attractive cent. I like it.
That's a nice 1920's era wheat cent. Given the toning and woody error, I'd ask $10+ship if it were mine to sell. It could most likely pass as a low MS coin but depending on the luster/surfaces it could pass as AU58 as well. It's unlikely to go lower than that.
The only thing that brings an MS coin down to AU is wear. You can have all the dings in the world, but with no wear it would grade MS 60. For the OP coin, the wear on Lincoln's cheek bone means the best this coin could hope for is AU58.
One of those is a pretty healthy ding though, Razz. So much so that it could have lost a little copper when it got whacked. I still like the look of this rascal though.
So in that case, would it become AU details if it is determined that the ding is so severe? I agree, I like the look. BTW the marks on the bust shoulder are mostly rough planchet marks that did not get struck out.
Yeah, good call, Razz. You definitely see more than I do here. What's your take on the color with this coin.
