With this post I learned a big lesson. Never put something if you don't have pictures to prove right a way, what you said. My self "I AM 100% SURE THERE'S A DIE CLASH". But until this morning I saw that. The area one on the oberse of the dime belong to the scarf o blanket under the left arm of lady liberty. (walking). And no to the area one of the Reverse half. This dime is mine and I know what Die clash mind. The big difference is that. The 1994 P is "NEW" and the 1925 dime is OLD. Dime Rev.jpg Dime Ober.jpg

OMG! what's next ? maybe it's a UFO coin. or maybe those little men with crowns on their head used this kind of coins. The normal US error collectors that I know don't like severly damaged coins

This morning when I lay out, the skirt of lady liberty on those Incuse lines of the dime, those three sections of the scarf aligned perfectly with those three sections of the dime. I'm No so good in Photoshop. Most of my findings I do with plastic sheets. That one look like multiple Die clash. Transparencies 005A.JPG Transparencies 005.jpg

Carlos, think about what you are claiming for a minute. For this to happen, there would have to be a walking Liberty half obverse die coupled with a mercury dime obverse die that clashed. Then they changed the half obverse to a half reverse and they clashed again. Then they noticed the mistake again and loaded up a merc dime reverse and started striking coins. I have seen some pretty far fetched things on here, but this one takes the cake. Jral1's coins are looking better & better. :D

I meant to say the '94 is beautiful, but a clash doesn't turn to scratches when it gets "older".

The die clash happen on a Die 1925 S 1/2 Dollar Walking Liberty. And SOME HOW, transferred to the oberse of this 1925 S Mercury Dime. About only 1 thing I'm 100% sure. Those lines. (what you call scratches), is the way Mr. Adolph A Weinman used to express his ideas in his sculptures. I know; I got to spend weeks in finding more clues. MY RESPECTS FOR ALL OF YOU. WHICH IN ONE HOUR KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEN.

Carlos, looking at your photo/drawing in post #22, If your scenario occurred, the dime area would have to be in the center area of the 50 cent piece, not the off center near the skirt. The coin presses have the 2 vertical die holders that when they come together , the center area of each is over the center area of the other, they can't be offset, the bases of the dies are similar diameter. I have a 1857 Flying Eagle cent that clashed with a 50 cent piece, but the clash of course is with the center area of the 50 cent piece, not near the edge like you propose.

Thank desertgem for that information. You're absolutely right. Yesterday I did new layouts. And I saw that. with an inverted image of the Mercury over the Oberse of a half dollar, most of the details make sense. (the nose of the mercury pointing south). It's most close center to center; but still off for about 0.065" east and 0.050" south. Thank again for that information.

I knew when you tried to kindly tell the OP his coin wasn't a clashed die that he would then say oh yeah it's from the center of the half.
Carlos the dime is only heavily scratched and nothing else . some kid has ruined this coin by cutting on it.

Lets keep the sarcasm to a minimum otherwise some will think it is jealousy of their knowledge.

It's a Multidenomination clash. On 1925 No one Half dollar coin was made. But remember that. THIS IS AN ERROR. On this Mercury dime can be seen AT LEAST 3 DIFERENT TYPES OF LINES. Related with Mr Weinman design way. An Happy New Year to You too. 1114Skirt.jpg 1113Leg.jpg 1112Leg.jpg 1111Leg.jpg 1110WingShape.jpg

I just received another big lesson this morning. (Mr Adolph A Weinman) was "also" the designer of the Mercury dimes of those years. Hsppy New Year for all of you. z.jpg
