If there was some explanation, I would say it may be in the past. However, this particular transaction (cancelled purchases from two unrelated buyers, with no explanation and no communication) starts to establish a trend. It's suspicious. When we're talking about a $1700 coin, I really can't forgive suspicious behaviour with no explanation. The coin hobby is built on trust - and I have zero trust with that ebay seller. You can't forgive a betrayal of trust - you can only treat it with suspicion. Again, I'm not convinced that ebay seller is this cointalk member. All I can do is shed some light on 1916D's behavior in this case.
Understood but as you said, you're not convinced. It may or may not be the same person. He's new to CT so give him a chance.
I'm not convinced he is, but I'm also not convinced he's not. I will continue to be suspicious until proven otherwise.
Seems to me that there’s probably more that one person in the entirety of the internet that has an XF 1952-S LINCOLN cent as an avatar. I would also not drop 10K on a coin with such pitiful eye appeal no mater what the grade is.
His avatar was different when he originally posted, and matched that of the ebay seller mentioned (a circulated 1799 dollar). He changed it after the thread was posted.
user 'thutmose' was last seen viewing this thread 15 minutes ago. P&G's last post was 16 minutes ago. T-mo has seen this thread, and all the posts questioning him. His response (or, lack of response) will determine everything.
I'm not sure what I think at this point but if the new member does not reply to this thread, he has not earned respect from anyone.
Respect is hard earned around here. Face value seems to be more of a factor, when one is graded by there responses, it is the only way we get to know them. Good or bad I hope there is a resolution. By the way @thutmose I am still trying to figure out what you are asking about this coin, Why was it posted here?
sounds like shill bidding or he did not get thee amount he was hoping for a coin and canceled the auction. I have had that happen to me before and reported them for shill bidding it was to obvious. he canceled the order then it went back up for sale the next day. obvious shill bidding.
Looks like the ebay seller has his feedback on private. I'll guess he is getting his history cleaned up.
