Since I took the photos with my iphone, i found an extra picture with the holder and chose a different key frame of the zoomed in photo i posted earlier. I don't feel like these will be more helpful, but I'm here to learn.
My advice would be to pass on this coin. I would either save up my money or choose a lower grade example. I think you'll be better off in the long run having a really nice piece that you'll enjoy for as long as you own it. And as a side note, those are the coins with the best chance of increasing in value.
I'm sure your advise is on the money. But it's your last sentence that has me so interested in this coin. It wasn't really on my radar until I started to diversify my collection; now I'm going down a Buffalo nickel rabbit hole.
The new pictures only solidify my position on this piece. I’d be holding my money for another opportunity.
They are quite addictive! If I may make a suggestion, to plink down the type of money you’re looking at for this “shady” coin, you could look at getting a nice proof buffalo nickel.
I did buy a NGC graded buffalo (MS62) i forget the year and mint mark (it wasn't a key date because i didn't pay much for it) but it had a really nice gun metal toning and the condition impressed me at the time because my opinion of buffalos then was they are all so circulated in appearance. I hoped that would satisfy the itch but I guess i'm back in for round 2.
