Potentially. Turn down the contrast in your photo editor.

    The date looks off . . . .

Way off. The "1" shouldn't have that tilt.

Not enough relief in the dies either for this vintage. Looks fake.

    Or it's not a "1" but a messed up 4 ?

Looks like a woodie to me. Also looks like the second 1 took a hit and moved it to the left.

I can't tell from these photos. Typically the wood grain would very evident on both the Obv and Rev. And, the lines would run parallel with each other front to back.

Improper Alloy mix. It's a woody.

In Canada here, it wouldn't be a woody. It looks like the final rinse that they do coming down the slide to remove any metal chips wasn't right. Or it looks like it was post-mint. I'm fairly sure that it would scratch or rub out.

+1 for improper alloy mix and PMD to the 2nd "1". Fine condition "cleaned" and left to re-tone which brings out the wood grain tones.

That's the definition of "woody." Note the outside 1 was hit. That's crimping machine damage. It was in a roll facing out at the end at one point in its history. I personally wouldn't hold it against any grade.
