If it's real then it looks quite nice and from the images I would imagine it would make it into a problem-free holder. I would guesstimate a VF30 grade on the piece and a value of $2,000-$3,000. Again, this is assuming it is real and I have interpreted the surfaces correctly.

1 big question Tom. What embership should i sign up for at pcgs. I'm not a big collector and don't think i would send more than 5-10 coins in a year. I want to choose the right thing with such a great tcoin though

You can either drop the coin off with a friend who is a PCGS member or with a PCGS authorized dealer in your area or purchase a membership for yourself. If you drop it off with a friend you must keep in mind any insurance or liability issues should the coin "disappear" whereas you are not so likely to have those issues if you drop the coin off with a PCGS authorized dealer.

If you give the coin to a PCGS authorized dealer expect to pay something like $30 for certification under the Regular tier or $50 under the Express tier. I would suggest certification under the Regular tier since the coin has a value quite near the cutoff for that tier. The dealer might also ask you for postage and might ding you for full postage even if he/she is sending other coins in, too. Total postage might come to $30 so that you would be into the coin for approximately $60 for grading and postage.

Alternatively, you can purchase a PCGS membership and I would suggest either the Gold ($129) or Platinum ($199) levels. The Gold level allows you to submit up to four coins for "free" while the Platinum level allows you to submit up to eight coins for "free". Please note you must wait for your membership package to arrive and you will then also be on the hook for the entire postage cost. Also, you have to submit all four or all eight coins at the same grading tier and at one time to get them graded "free". Otherwise, if you submit lets say one coin then that one coin will be graded "free" and in the future you would have to pay for other coins to be graded.

You won't be able to send the coin off today. PCGS has always sent a certificate in the mail to the buyer of these memberships and the certificate has to be sent back to PCGS along with the coins. Therefore, if you purchase a membership today you will have to wait for the package and then send off your coins. This might take a week or more especially since the Long Beach show is upon us and the Baltimore show is in a few weeks.

They may waive this requirement for you, but in the past they have not been willing to do so.

A 23. Certainly he would need his head examined if he had a 21 for sale for $35 in XF +.

Im confused. What coin are we talking about here? The OP's original post had a link for a 1923 Peace Dollar, for $30, which I said, in my opinioin, thats a good price for the condition it's in.

we are way past that. We are now talking about how is the best way to go about getting my 1799 dollar graded and back to my in time before i leave TDY (military for "long business trip) lol

When he made his original post the link went to a 21 Peace. But after a few supportive comments he bought it and it disappeared off the website. Then the link went to a 23 Peace. He posted the picture of the 21 he bought a little latter in the thread.

Yes, apparently he was anxious to buy the 1921 regardless of the feedback from other members.

Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Why the unfriendly sarcastic comment? He indicated he was new to collecting and the first comments he received indicated a good buy for the 21

Your comment above did nothing to educate or assist him.

If you look at the first two replies to his inquiry, both came from Numismatist47 who was under the impression that he was referring to a 1923 Peace, not a 1921. I was under the same impression because there was no photo of a 1921 on the site.

Apparently, the OP didn't wait to get any feedback on the coin but purchased it anyway regardless of any questions or issues that might be raised about it's condition, and the photos were quickly removed from the site before anyone could see them.

So, my point is that if he were asking for assistance on whether or not to make these purchases, and if he were truly trying to learn from the experience of others, then why would he plunge headlong into the purchase before getting any feedback whatsoever regarding the coin.

I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, and it is one thing for someone to ask for help, but doesn't it seem kind of ridiculous to ask for help once you've already jumped off the bridge?

well beofre anyone goes crazy about little old me; I bought the 1921 peace dollar because Numismatist47 said it was a good buy. I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about the 1923 peace dollar like the secdon guy to weigh in. Alos, even when the second guy said something about $30 for the coin, I though he was talking about the 1921 because it was $130. I just though he was being lazy. Again I'm not an expert, but maybe your right; I might have jumped the gun a bit

These are the 2nd (Numismaist47), 3rd (yours), 4th (Numismatist47) & 5th (yours) posts of the thread. From your second post, I was given the impression that you wanted more feedback. From "Numis47's" second post, it was clear that he had assumed that you were talking about the 1923 because no 1921 in MS64 is only worth $50! Did you jump the gun? Yeah, I think so, but I sincerely hope that it works out for the best for you.
