1921 P Morgan, what would you grade it?

I know it’s not incredibly easy to see, but would this be at a DMPL level? There are fine scratches only visible at certain angles on the reverse. I’m sure that will take the grade down a little, but it definitely has a mirror finish to it.

Sorry, but no. I think your coin has been buffed/polished.

Oh well, only $26 in it so I could be worse off. Thanks for the help!

The coin has been heavily polished and is worth no more than melt. It's a "junk box" quality silver dollar. Here's one, with bright luster, that is in an MS-61 holder.

At the price you paid it’s junk silver pricing as it’s been buffed or polished to give it that look. The grade is details.

It’s on me, the place I sell my scrap gold and silver at charges me the same price unless it’s a key date. Not great at spotting some details grades yet. Here’s a ‘21 D and ‘85 O I also got for $26 9D70FBA8-CCCC-4ABF-9819-5199D72DE28E.jpeg

At $26, you are getting some relative bargains. My local dealer is charging $28 for really ugly dollars that have no numismatic value at all, at least not in this generation of collectors.

The coin in the opening post here is what I would call an "ugly dollar."

The precious metal shop I went to also charges $28 for not that great Morgans.

Looks like it may have been cleaned with baking soda, or something. Shiny as a polished hubcap!

Even when I buy cull silver dollars, I quickly pass on any coins that have that polished/scrubbed look.

I hand pick some pretty decent and problem free looking cull silver dollars, for the same price as the problem coins.
