    Is this a 17 berries variety? value?

    I'm not familiar with this kind of variety, but I counted 17 berries on the back, so I think you have it.

    thanks, I have no clue really. Going through 3 rolls of assorted dates for a friend along with a box of small cents( my thing) and saw something about 16 vs 17 berries in an article.

    17 berries. There's no value difference between 16 and 17. The 17 berry reverse is not as common, but there were still north of 10 million made. A few have widely spaced reeds, and those are worth a few extra bucks.

    There are two other things that are on the 17 berry reverses that aren't on the 16 berry reverses. The middle talon of the eagle's right (viewer's left) foot descends below the olive branch and the top arrowhead is all scratched up.
