That sounds like a pretty good score! You should be aware though that price guides are not the be all and end all of what you should pay for a coin. I've paid large multiples of what the price guide says for several of my coins, because they were worth it. I've paid less for some because they were nice coins and well worth what I paid. But don't let price be the deciding factor on what to buy. Like I always say, I'd rather have a great coin for a fair price than a fair coin for a great price.
I figured that the NGC price would be the most accurate. And this coin really is a true gem but on ebay you don't get deals like that all the time. I have another 1993 Silver Eagle that I purchased with the coa and box for $75. last year. I believe this coin could very well be a proof 70. I am sending that one in tomorrow with 7 others to be graded.
I wouldn't count on it. Remember, too, that if you're looking to get it certified to improve the resale value, it absolutely has to be a 70 to be worth it. Otherwise, at $75 + grading fees, you'll be buried in it for a long time.
That year has real value only if it hits PF70. You are right but I would always want to know if that was a 70. I just have to know and if it is, HOME RUN
That's barely 70% of actual retail even for an 1881-S, the most common 66. I wouldn't be sharing where I got a deal like that from, let me tell you.
He's talking about the NGC66 you claim to have bought for $189. 81-S is the most common in that grade and was just used as an example. Got a photo?
Nice. And we'll give you an exaggeration pass this time but as a rule of thumb honesty is the best policy. No need to pretend you got it for $30 less anyway, that's still a nice score at $220
