1921 D penny error?

Does anyone know if this could possibly be an error? It appears to be a 1921 D, but is not a wheat penny

That's not a 1921.. Maybe a 1981 that took a nasty hit on the 8 just like the rest of the Cent that took many nasty hits.

There were no Memorial Cents before 1959

One more thing that just came to mind.. There were no 1921 Cents minted at the Denver Mint.. So there can't be a 1921 D mint mark Cent

@Lyds79 Not a 1921 wheat CENT, but you can clearly see that it was run over by a 1958 Golden Hawk Studebaker. Welcome to CT...
