    Does anyone know if this could possibly be an error? It appears to be a 1921 D, but is not a wheat penny

    That's not a 1921.. Maybe a 1981 that took a nasty hit on the 8 just like the rest of the Cent that took many nasty hits.

    There were no Memorial Cents before 1959

    Thank you for replying. I was thinking the same thing but was hoping it was an error on what should be a 1981. Thanks again!

    No problem ;)

    @Lyds79
    This is what an actual 1921 date looks like -
    Big difference!

    @Lyds79
    One more thing that just came to mind.. There were no 1921 Cents minted at the Denver Mint.. So there can't be a 1921 D mint mark Cent :wideyed:

    @Lyds79 Not a 1921 wheat CENT, but you can clearly see that it was run over by a 1958 Golden Hawk Studebaker. Welcome to CT...

    Thanks for the welcome! And yes, I'm a newbie . Forgive me if I'm a bit eager.

    I for one am glad that there are people "eager" to learn about coins.
    Best collecting to all.
