    1920 buffalo nickel weighs 4.95 any insights?

    Normal. Started at 5.0. Minor wear lost a little

    Interesting. Seems like it had an unusually thin nickel layer at some point, and was worn off by circulation. I think it’s thin because the weight is barely different than the 5.00 average.

    It's solid nickel/copper alloy. Obverse to reverse and everywhere in between.
