This was in a coin club auction last night. The consignor had cherrypicked it from a 90% junk bin. Only 29 others of this variety have been discovered since its discovery in 2015, despite hundreds (thousands?) of people searching. This coin has not been reported into the official census yet. This is by far the most significant DDO of the Mercury Dime series and an utmost rarity.

I just thought it would be really cool to temporarily own such a neat coin. :)

Neat variety! I’m honestly surprised that it took nearly 100 years for this DDO to be noticed.

Yup, but to resell as I cannot afford to keep it right now

Wasn't this variety a discovery piece of a member here?

Nice score! Is that a Conn double bell euphonium in your avatar photo? (Trombonist here)

‘Tis a ~1920 King by H. N. White. I sold that one and bought an 1895 Conn that plays about 200% better.

Nice! I used to own this beautiful ‘20s gold plated highly engraved Conn double bell euphonium which I ended up selling to an acquaintance of mine. Wish I had held on to it!
