    Type II has three stars below the eagle on the reverse, the type I has none.
    Also, Lady Liberty is more modestly attired on the type II, and her cowlick has been brushed down ;)

    Bare breast (no mail) on Liberty, no stars beneath the eagle on reverse. Even if the obverse is completely slick, you can tell a Type I by looking at the reverse.

    Edit: Missed it by seconds! (Bonus points for including the images, as long as they don't get busted [ahem] on 1950s-TV grounds... :rolleyes:)
