A coin like that should have a good pic in order to get the best price so wait to ask that question after you post a photo of the coin and not a scanner pic of it. :thumb: Ribbit
I caught that too and was hoping no one else would! :goof: But he said "Hello" and not "Howdy" so I haven't totally rubbed off on him yet and that's a good thing. Ribbit
No. Luster and original detail are two entirely different animals. Luster is the light reflected off the flow lines on the surface of a coin. The hourglass you see on a nice Morgan dollar (or other coin) is luster. Flow lines are created by erosion of the surface of the dies through use. Original detail, as the term implies, is the original details or features of the coin, e.g., Liberty, wreath, shield, etc. Original detail doesw not include microscopic details like flow lines. Flow lines are not part of the original design.
All true, but the last part is maybe debatable in that all coins have flow lines when first struck. But I think that the way Ryan was using the word original he meant something entirely different. Namely that he though the coin was original meaning that it hadn't been messed with eg: cleaned or dipped. In other words he thought the coin had an original skin.
OH! Well, from all my experience, I cannot see any signs of cleaning, so I would call it all original! Thank you all!
I have a few sets of these and i would say it is in the fine range, Libertys chest is to worn to be a vf, the shoe appears to be there, so I go with a fine!
