Can someone help me out? I'm needing a opinion if this is a fake. Something looks a little off with the "d".
Before you spend 100's of dollars on a coin, spend 10 bucks on a book to educate yourself.... This little pocket guide covers the following coins: 1856 Flying Eagle Cent 1877 Indian Head Cent 1909 S VDB Wheat Cent 1914 D Wheat Cent 1922 "No D" Wheat Cent 1931 S Wheat Cent 1943 Copper Wheat Cent 1955 Doubled Die Wheat Cent 1916/1916 Doubled Die Buffalo Nickel 1918/7 D Overdate Buffalo Nickel 1937 D 3 Legged Buffalo Nickel 1943/2 P Overdate Jefferson Nickel 1916 D Mercury Dime 1921 P & D Mercury Dime 1942/41 P Overdate Mercury Dime 1942/41 D Overdate Mercury Dime 1918/7 S Overdate Standing Liberty Quarter 1932 D & S Washington Quarter 1899 CC Morgan Dollar 1892 S Morgan Dollar 1894 P Morgan Dollar 1928 P Peace Dollar
Yes, it is fake, but the position of the D on your one coin does not prove anything. There were 4 different positions for that D. See https://www.cointalk.com/threads/real-or-fake-1916-d-mercury-dime.2116/page-2
Confirmed. Jeremy's photo shows the D in the wrong place and with an impossible tilt. His, if anything, is tilted high right, and the real ones are high left.
Lousy photo and Kurt's right, time to go to school before you're "had" again. The chop suey crowd makes much better ones than this.....
Wow. "Chop suey crowd"? Whoa, that one would get me sentenced to sensitivity training redo's at work.
Wasn't had. Someone I knew had it and asked me if I was interested. Always check on stuff out of my realm of expertise before I buy.
