Even without seeing the MM, there are so many things wrong with this koin that if someone can't immediately spot this as a fake they should never buy a key date or expensive issue raw.
I do not have anything to facts to substantiate these numbers. So having said this, I have read and heard from good dealers and websites there are more Fake 1916 D Mercury Dimes and 1909 S VDB Lincoln Pennies than there are real ones. Giving this information both these types of coins require me as a dealer to be certain of their authenticity or walk away. If I find any one of their attributes which unqualified either of these of these two coins I do not look further. This 1916 D Mercury to me looks fake in the Strike, the Denticles and MM. The best to thing to do regarding this coin is run.
