    Hello guys :)

I need again your help about a coin we are talking in the Italian forum lamoneta.it.

This is the link to thread

    https://www.lamoneta.it/topic/182088-buffalo-nichel-1916-double-d/

The owner thinks that it could be a rare 1916 DDO, and would send the coin to PCGS for certification.
I think it isn't, and suggested to ask opinion of CT experts, before spending money for PCGS ;)

    enlargement of the date:

    and reverse.

If you need more photos, I can ask to owner.

    Thanks.

Is it the date that he thinks is doubled? If so, it does not look like the FS-101. The tops of the numbers look like they took a couple of hits.

Where is the photo of the 1916 DDO to compare?
I don't see anything on the OP coin, except perhaps a broken 9 at the top.

By checking here, @petronius, you just saved your friend many euros. I think he owes you a glass of vino or a big dish of gelato.

Not even close to the famous 1916 DDO. The top of the number has an indentation on them from taking a hit. Look st the example in your Red Book and you can see a distinct difference. If they send it in for grading they'll never recover their grading and shipping costs.

It is in very nice shape, and would command a premium, but not great enough to pay for a TPG slab.

I agree not the DDO, there is ( as mentioned) damage that probably made it appear closer by the OP. IMO, Jim

I made the comparison in the Italian forum using these photos,

    buffalo nickel1916dbl die.jpg

    buffalo1916GO-DblDieObv-PCGSMS62d.jpg

and my opinion was the coin in object isn't a double-die.

Well, it seems that is also your opinion  so thanks to all :D and at the next time.

Here is the PCGS image of the 1916 double-date nickel. The most obvious thing to look for is at the '6' -- always quite clear.
