the mint mark looks funny to me on this coin but i'm no expert, so i'd like to know if this is genuine.

Something looks off about the mintmark - it's too small, I think.

Do you have a microscope so that you can check to see if it was glued or soldered in place?

I do not feel, if it's a true 1914d. The "D" doesn't look right. The "D" appears to have a con caved circle around the "D". As stamped. Sorry

is it possible the D just took a hit from whatever hit the bottom of the #9... and is that why it looks off? ... here is a better pic

I don't think that 'D' is right. If I recall correctly, the interior portion of the D is more triangular. Also, I am not an expert on dies, but, I thought there was a die crack from the bust to the rim just under the left lapel flap in Lincoln's coat.

I can't remember exactly where this came from, but the info is good.

You are welcome. I was just going to post that.

BTW, it is a perfect match for #2. It is either a darn good replica or most likely real.

It looks good to me, I just came across 3 of them. Two were 1944 fakes.

looks perfect if you ask me.

The mintmark is the proper shape and in the proper position.

    I think genuine.

    very cool

    1914 D Wheat Penny

The 1914D Lincoln cent is one of those penny rarities which just keeps getting more expensive with time. With a little more than a million ever struck, the 1914-D usually commands over $200 in the lowest grades.

I need to search my wheat collection, never know :) Now that we don't take pennies, I never get to grab them any more

I am waiting for my 1914-D to come back from NGC. My dad bought it for me in 1964 .
