1914 Barber Dime question - Mechanical Doubling or something else?

Hello All,

I am purchasing this coin. This is the sellers picture. Unfortunately it's the only one I have.

Do you see the doubling on the ES on 'States'? Fairly sure it's mechanical doubling, or maybe even an optical illusion from the picture itself.

What do you think?

It appears to be worthless doubling or just nothing.Still a nice coin but why would you want to buy such a scratched up coin.

 

Its a common date with a mintage of 17,000,000-18,000,000 is it because you just want it as a hole filler for now?

 

Thanks for your feedback! Yes. It's just a filler for now. Just working on a 20th century type set. I'm just going for XF and up but affordable. Most Barbers that are AU and up tend to get pricey. That's all. Perhaps I'll upgrade in the future.

I didn't buy the coin for the doubling. It was the finer details and affordable price that I preferred.
