Found this v nickel while metal detecting at a beach in Florida. It's condition is not the greatest, but I believe the date reads 1913. I've been researching the famous 1913 v nickel and that there is only 5 know to exist, could this possibly be a 6th specimen? What are your thoughts? Any advice on what I should do with it? Thanks!

    What makes you think it's a 1913?

I'm taking some more pictures of it now to upload. I only have my phone camera so it's difficult to get the very fine details. Going to take front/back pictures and see if I can enhance them a bit using photo software.

It looks like a severely corroded 1910 or 1912 to me.

There were only 5 1913 Liberty Head Nickels made, that is well known. It's not an approximate or that there are "5 known"...it's a well documented fact that 5 were made. The locations of all 5 are accounted for and each specimen is well known and studied. So, that alone means this cannot be one.

    Looks like 1910.
Only 5 were made (clandestinely) and all sold to the same guy. Who later sold them individually. IMO the 1913 is an illegal coin and should have been confiscated and destroyed. Not a mint issue.
Now it's too late. People have paid too much money, there is a legal paper trail and too much time has passed.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

    1) 99% shot it’s not dated 1913.
    2) If it is dated 1913, it’s a fake or “tribute” piece.
    3) This is not how numismatic discoveries happen.

I thought that this was the preferred trolling lure used in Florida. Didn’t know they used corroded nickels now. Come on Guys a 30 year old metal detector guy that happens to find a top five coin and is a new CT member. I know Florida has ducks cause I can hear this one quacking and I see this one walking. I HOPE I’m wrong. I will apologize in advance IF I was wrong, I’m sorry.
