Not a proof for sure. Just a well circulated coin that was cleaned up a bit.

In what world would anybody believe that the coin might have been a circulated proof? It is heavily worn and almost dateless. If you took a proof 1968S nickel and wore it down to that level... how could you tell unless one tiny spot remained in original condition (and how could that happen?)? I guess you could grade this buffalo nickel AU58 borderline UNC and sell it on eBay, who likely wouldn't remove the listing because grading is subjective
