I still don't know for sure on what it is on the obverse of the 1930. Some people say it's PMD others say it's a planchet flaw. I will submit it someday as a Mint Error and see if it passes or not. It's still a very interesting piece I snagged on eBay.

Well that sure fooled me. IMO - based on the picture - AU on the 2nd coin is a gift. The date and area around appears to show significant wear and so does the head of the buffalo. As does "LIBERTY" on the obverse and the Buffalo's back, "EPU" and "AMERICA" on the reverse.

I agree, i guessed XF..... Im gonna say that the areas youve mentioned are actually distorted from it recieving a weak strike. I would trust Anacs, since they had the coin in-hand

It looks to me, like a strike thru debris/cloth/grease is a possibility also. The other guesses are good too i reckon...I cant remember if i commented in the thread or not. Ill hafta go back and check IF i can find it.

I,m not surprised...as we all know, grading is subjective. I see AUs offered regularly that don,t look AU to me, and I own a few that I would question. I guess that,s what guessing the grade is all about.

I agree that it is a strike through , in fact looks to be a new variety two and half feathers. :)
