    Hi everyone,

I have a question about this (believed to be) error coin. I believe it's a Lamination error.

This coin has multiple errors (at least what I can determine to be errors):

-It's missing a star on the front and in addition one star looks to be partially missing

-There is a dent on the back at the top

-The O in Of (on back) looks to be collapsed inward

-The E in State is partially raised in some parts while others parts aren’t and there is damage to the S (looks smeared)

-It does look a bit offset

Can anyone give me some ideas as to what's going on with this coin and if I'm correct in thinking it's a Lamination Error?

    Any help would be great!

    Thank you,
    Stephanie

My apologizes... this is my first time ever posting to a board. Not really sure how to add photos, but will try to fix in a few minutes.
Thank you for letting me know they didn't attach.

In your reply, hit 'upload a file' (right below the dialog box) and choose the pic from wherever you have it loaded on your computer. Peter is pretty generous with file sizes so you shouldn't encounter any problems.

Could you explain more? Some age and damage is expected right?

Could you please verify my Lamination issues? In addition, if you see any that I might have missed could you please point them out?

I don't see anything that looks like a lamination to me. It looks to be damage. You are correct, for a circulated coin that old, some damage would be expected.

I am looking to sell this coin soon. What would be a good price for a coin like this?

A lamination occurs when part of the coin's surface splits away. On the obverse of your coin, what looks like a raised line above/thru the third * and down the field to the neck is the lamination. It also looks like a raised peeling spot to the left of the one. The reverse rim + much of the coin is damaged. The reddish color is corrosion. There may be an additional lamination at "S OF." You'll be able to tell just by looking for a split in the surface. Let us know what you see.l

Your coin lists (undamaged) between 3.60 and 11.50 in trends depending on grade. I'm VG10 Details, Damaged and Laminated. IMO, because of over-all condition/eye appeal, the others' prices are good offers.

I did not see lamination either, but the coin appears to have been banged up probably from hitting the ground.

I'm waiting for the OP to tell us if the surface is split away.

How about a reply Stephanie. I'm curious.

No, I don't see anything that looks like a split away. I am still curious about the stars on the front. Any suggestions as to what could have caused one star to be missing the way it is and the others look find (even for age).
