I see a lot of people have this coin as AU (details). To me, there is nothing about the obverse that is AU in any way. It shows significant wear, circulation.
I didn't even bother to look for dings and scratches. As soon as I saw the color of the surfaces, I was out because of severe cleaning which disqualifies the coin from getting a straight grade. Unless the price is really low, like heading toward, little above the melt value, this coin is a burial. No collector who has an eye for quality will want to buy it.
3 things bother me about this coin...the cleaning, as mentioned, but also the obverse denticles are not uniform and the edge reeding appears suspect. Not a Barber Half expert by any means, but does anyone else agree on the denticles and reeding? Am I suspecting something that doesn't apply to Barber Halves?...Spark
