1912 D Barber Half Grade Input

    I see a lot of people have this coin as AU (details).
    To me, there is nothing about the obverse that is AU in any way.
    It shows significant wear, circulation.

    Glad the OP passed on this. I thought the surfaces just looked "wrong," in a general sort of way.

    I didn't even bother to look for dings and scratches. As soon as I saw the color of the surfaces, I was out because of severe cleaning which disqualifies the coin from getting a straight grade. Unless the price is really low, like heading toward, little above the melt value, this coin is a burial. No collector who has an eye for quality will want to buy it.

    3 things bother me about this coin...the cleaning, as mentioned, but also the obverse denticles are not uniform and the edge reeding appears suspect.

    Not a Barber Half expert by any means, but does anyone else agree on the denticles and reeding?
    Am I suspecting something that doesn't apply to Barber Halves?...Spark
