Wow, it really does look good! Here are the weak points, and most are probably from the video, but I see def wear on some of the rippled edges on the outside. Second, no one stores uncirculated coins like that... leaves too much compromising of the integrity of the coin. I could be wrong, I doubt it! However I can prove authenticity, just need a clean view! I hope for your sake I'm wrong, that would be great for you. Any way you can post a pic under UV light? That would help eliminate obscurity!

A silver dime is 0.07234 oz, so let do the math fool, 29.30 times 0.07234 equals 2.12. So melt value on that coin is $2.12. So who doesn't have a clue what they are talking about?

He will probably end up getting $4-$5 if he tries to sell it.
I, like you, wouldn't buy the coin but that does not mean somebody else wouldn't. Beauty is what eyes behold.

Aside from the arrogance that wreaks in your post, there is something else that is bothersome to me. The very first sentence about paying $7.50 for a non certified coin and not being a real collector because of that.
    Care to elaborate?

C'mon guys, we all heard Doug's warning. This guy's clearly not here to give constructive criticism, and these are his only posts. I would just ignore him. The barber posted by the OP is in great condition regardless of what everyone else says. I would pay at lesat $5 even if it was dipped.

I would give close to what the OP payed, and I think Gmack's a tool. It's a nice looking coin. That's why we buy coins, because we think they look nice. EOM

No argument that it is a nice looking coin. However there are too many undefined variables! Wear on the edges, and storage. I'm not the only one that noticed(check the posts). I'm not here to be an ahole. Just trying to integrate my experience and knowledge, so no one gets taken! This is a dangerous game for the ignorant! Do your research ppl. Show a UV spec pic... it will show any cleaners or handling flaws! Does any one argue with that?

Why necro a thread almost a month and a half old, just to be a downer on someones purchase, criticism is welcome, but starting in your first few posts, you're calling people out on not being real collectors, and name calling? Did you happen to read the rules when you first signed up, ill even post them for you.

and here is a great site for the melt value on coins

:welcome: to Cointalk, hope you enjoy your stay.

Experience and knowledge that a silver dime is worth .47 ? I'll buy every circulated silver dime you have at that price.

Hey Elapid... I don't buy coins because they're pretty... I date women because they're pretty... I buy coins because I love it! Because its a piece of history that cannot be replaced! Example... I have coins pre WW2 that have absolutely no monetary value, however to me they are priceless. Its all about what you love! If I have impeded any ones enthusiasm, I appolagize! I have learned over 30 years that careful inspection is essential! If you want to buy coins because they're pretty, that's on you! I assure you, in this game you lose every time

I have 1,000+... wanna recant your offer now, or you wanna buy? Some are cleaned and absolutely worthless. I learned through making my mistakes years ago. I'm just trying to help! All you ppl hating on me, are the ones that take advantage of ignorant collectors! This is supposed to be a site where ppl learn, and all i have found is enablers to ignorance! Guaranteed no one posting on here has the faintest clue!

As for the slur on the forum and its members, I guess when you sit on the heighths of numismatic knowledge everybody else looks pretty ignorant.

So i calculated for a nickle instead of a dime... good catch! However a $7.50 investment on a $2 value doesn't seem like a "good" return! Either way, stop feeding nonsense to the youth and take a look... its our job to educate, not take advantage of!!! Seriously

For your information gmack, I was only a coin collector for a year when I bought this coin. Its disappointing for a grown man (well, maybe not) to say that a 13 year old is not a coin collector because of a small purchase I made a long time ago. I support constructive criticism immensely, and this website has helped me in many ways to become a more knowledgeable coin collector. But there is no place on this site for comments like these that only hurt ( for lack of a better word) other members.

    Back on topic:

The good news? It looks like a VF, possibly a VF+.

The bad news? As such, Trends from Coin World = a value of $8.00

    And that is full retail.

So, if you don't mind paying full retail, it was a deal.

Let me think about this $2.03 worth of silver for .47.......OK I thought about it and the answer is yes. Where can we meet for this deal to go down? Tell me exactly how many you have so I will have the right amount of fiat with me.
