Would you accept this as an uncirculated coin? And if you were in the market for one, what would willing to pay for it? In other words, " what's it worth"?
With the wear showing on the obverse and the carbon spots I 'm more at a XF-45 but I tend to grade my coins on the low side.
I was thinking in the AU range too. This is an example of the hazards of buying online when you can't actually see the coin. Bought from an online dealer as an uncirculated cent. Obviously it's not! Wanted other opinions before I contact him tomorrow! Thanks everyone!!!
Don't know! Will see how they respond to my email tomorrow. If they are honest about the situation and make it right I may keep it. Think that will also answer concerns about the toning. I was willing to pay the price for an actual UNC cent but they will have to give me a decent refund before I will keep it. Otherwise it's going back!
This one underwent a little something, I don't know what, maybe acid, but that graininess throughout is all wrong.
You got maybe a high EF, low AU. If you like it and the price was OK, why go to the fuss? The guy obviously doesn't know a circulated cent when he sees it. Let's have a look-see the next time before you buy if there's anything questionable. But you're not going to teach somebody how to grade in a phone call, trust me when I tell you that, and with the shipping costs and refunding you'd have to work out this could be more aggravation than it's worth, I'm just saying. But good luck, however you decide.
I agree!! Can't see me getting too upset about a few bucks!! If I don't get satisfaction, they will lose in the long run because they just lost a future buyer!! There are always other options!
Perfect. And it leaves you the ultimate opportunity to say, if he doesn't make things right, that the tiny cost to rectify this faux pas will be much more than the cost of this solution. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Again, that would be the last thing to say if you can't come to an amicable agreement. Penny wise and many dollars foolish.
I'm afraid this was possibly chemically cleaned some time a while back in its life time. Maybe not, but the color looks suspect to me.
