    What does the vdb in the 1909 wheat cent stand for? Thanks

    You know RunningLiberty, that there's still a VDB on current cents. It's verrrrry small and on the edge of Lincoln's shoulder. See it?

    Funny when you think back as to why those initials were moved to a more inconspicous place. Because the of public outcry over how large they were, placement, and that everyone thought he was being too grandiose and glorifying himself. The same with the exposed breasts on the Standing Liberty quarter which was art and not porn as some prudes suggested. Now look at the initials of designers on current coinage. How easily we forget the past.

    Brenner did some really nice work. He did plaques, medals and some other art.
    His Lincoln design became the US cent, penny:D in 1909.

    The reverse of the wheat penny is one of the finest designs of all of US coinage.
