Hi,

I would have to say that I would like to see it in person. I am extremely cautious about doing anything thru Ebay since my personal experience. I was selling a PC diagnostic kit (valued at $1500.00), and somebody bought it. After he bought it, he asked me about an item that I forgot to delete from the description that I had copied and pasted from the manufacturers website. He asked me this after I told him that I shipped it, and I told him that the kit doesn't contain the item. He told me that he didn't want the kit anymore but asked if he could buy just the software that came with it. I told him that I couldn't sell the software by itself because it is part of the kit. He said that he would send the kit back to me. When he received the kit, he took it home and opened the box from the bottom, took out the software, copied it, and put it back in the box. He then taped up the box and took it back to the post office saying that he didn't open the box so he could send it back to me without paying anything. He then disputed the item with paypal and got his money back. I tried to talk with paypal and ebay about it because I also told him that if he opens the box then he is agreeing to keep the kit. Since I got the kit back, Paypal and ebay said they could not do anything. I was able to resell the kit, and the person who bought it was happy with it.

Now that I have bored you with this, and I am sorry for that, I have an idea to provide protection to the buyer and seller outside of ebay. I can't help but think that if I have a coin that someone wants to buy from me, they could buy it, and when they get it, switch my coin with a crappy one and send it back to me and dispute the item with ebay to get there money back, and since ebay would see that I got something back it the mail, they would side with the buyer. Ok, my idea. I will give it from a sellers stand point. Maybe I could send the item to a coin dealer in the area of my buyer so that the coin dealer could be there to witness the buyer looking at it. If the buyer likes it and takes it home. The dealer would sign the enclosed letter stating that the buyer decided to keep the item, and send it back to me. If the buyer doesn't like it, then the dealer would box the coin back up and send it back to me, and the buyer would leave his store with nothing. I know that it would be asking a lot from the dealers, but it would help maintain the integrity of the numismatic world. Also, the dealer could check to see if my coin is a counterfeit. What do you guys think about this?
