It took me a while to figure out what was going on - until I noticed the dates on the posts.

  3. Please don't use acetone on a 1909-S VDB. A dirty penny is better than a cleaned penny

Dirty is better than cleaned, indeed for sure. But when your talking corrosion eating into the coin, and or pvc damage, etc. You should really look into that. Now if it was like dirt in the details or something, the coin is dark, I would leave it that. But when it comes to damage like that, if left untreated, it could ruin the coin forever. So a cleaned penny is better with more value than a penny that is ruined because of pvc or corrosion. I recently got burned on a Heritage auction, (yes I said Heritage) auction a few months ago on a Matte Proof cent with PVC damage, I made a stupid mistake and cracked it out and sent it to NGC for re-grade because I thought it could receive a higher grade. But it was body-bagged due to pvc. I sent it in to NCS to have it conserved and re-graded. I hope it can be saved, because I have over $550 in it.

One year later! LOL. I love it.
I hope for you that it is good. I was simply taking a contrary view. What the heck do I know. I don't collect lincolns.

Just got the news. XF-45. I'm good with that. It looks much better without all the lights pointing at it. I have $333 in the coin including grading and shipping.

Congratulations, but I still don't see how it got graded with that corrosion on it.

Can't argue with you there. It has some nasty looking areas. It's always a gamble how a coin like this, will come back.

Very simple, it's an '09-S VDB. A common date exactly like it would have been bagged or slapped in a Genuine holder so fast it would make your head spin.

Congrats on the grade...but, like Doug said...

IMO that coin was in need of conservation. From the looks, the verdigris on the left wheat could have been easily conserved. That's about a 5 minute job.
