Of course you have to be reported by someone for a listing to be removed...and hundreds of counterfeits sell every day. What ebay's doing right now isn't enough IMO.
how do you know it wasn't a legit offering - simply because it's a US coin being sold on eBay from China? how many here buy world coins? i get Canadian coins from dealers in Germany, Spain, England, and Singapore. what makes this auction the ire of circumspect? not that i would buy a coin on eBay, just askin' -Steve
C'mon now. How many legit U.S. coins do you see coming out of China of all places. Especially a 1909-s vdb cent. Sure there are Trade dollars being sold out of China, probably thousands every day. What percentage of those do you think are genuine? 10%, 20%....more? China, in my opinion, is one of the worst places to buy coins from, especially U.S. coins. Man, they even counterfeit their own coins and sell them. BTW, it is a good thing. Would you like to be ripped off $500 dollars on a fake coin if you didnt know any better? Na
Easily. He saw the picture before the auction was pulled. As little as I know about US coins (and it's darned little), the picture in that auction screamed "I'm a fake" so loud that my Beautiful Bride heard it in the next room!
I missed it too. Sure would have like to see if they at least got the spelling correct on the coin. Knowing them it could have had AD after the date.
There is no inflation of any kind in Zimbabwe. They passed legislation eliminating the word. Its true.
