I'm new to collecting coins and picked this up to help finish off a lincoln collection. With the forums expertise what would u grade this? Screenshot_2016-04-14-20-55-08.png

I thought the coin was fake. But I am not an expert. A highly counterfeited coin in great condition that is not in a graded slab? Looks similar to the #3 obverse die strike. A legit coin in this condition is a Heritage Auction super high rip off price. The absolute lack of toning seems suspicious. Has this coin been in a humidity/temperature/oxygen controlled museum vacuum showcase for over 100 years?

The coin screams 'Harlot' to me. The only way I would buy one of these is in a TPG'er holder.........

Care to explain this one? Both why you equate an auction's "high price" with being a "rip off", and also if you believe this example to display original skins.

Have you closely checked the position of #3 and compared to the OP photos?

I'm no expert on this issue. But take a close look at the "D" on the obverse. See those "horns" at the top of the letter? I've seen that kind of feature on lots of other coins -- Chinese counterfeit coins. I see similar trails on many of the other letters in the motto on this coin. I'd be extremely suspicious.

I hope you didn't pay a lot for it.

It is real. It matches die #4. VDB is right. N is right. I think I can even see the die chip.

Your pictures make it look cleaned. Assuming it is just your pictures, MS64 maybe.

I will yield on the question of authenticity to others. That's just one of those coins I would never consider except in a PCGS or NGC slab.

It's real and a $3000 coin if it weren't real cleaned. Ah, that's tough.

I see no luster at all, appears to have been cleaned but it does seem to be genuine. A coin like this should have cartwheel luster.

It overlays precisely with Position 4. That does not incontrovertibly prove its' authenticity, but the MM is in the correct place for one of the known die pairs despite your claim.
