    Wow

On a bit of a roller coaster ride.

Again, I really appreciate the insights you are giving.

I have sitting on my desk a 60 mm macro lens.

I have a pretty full day and then I need to take my daughter to a soccer game this evening. After that I plan on taking some more photo's and I will post them here.

Thanks again for all the help and interest.

yeah, things like this happen when people ask for a grade on key date coins, it's not unusual for people to bring up their conspiracy theories about a coin when a key date coin (especially a rare key date) is posted for grading.

Looks like a great coin to me, but I don't think it would quite make AU55 if you slabbed it. Still, thanks for sharing this rare coin with us!

I messed around with the camera, never taken photo's of coins before.

Anyhow, after looking at the full size shot on my screen, I cropped the MM and Reverse VDB. Not great, but not too bad, IMHO.

    Looking forward to your views:

    Still not convinced.
The mint mark does not appear to be in the correct location.

    Similar to Number 3
but the vertical on the 'S' should lie between the '9' and '0'. Not on the same axis as the '0'.

Identical to #3. Here is my marking of the mint mark. I see no difference between my marking and teh standard.

Also, I could not figure out how to make the transparency thing work, but I did overlay the standard and erased sections to show that the date matches perfectly and the mint mark them also matches perfectly.
