    Thanks guys....I made this tough by using too strong of lighting. Coin picture taking and photo grading is truely an art form.....one that I don't think I'll ever master. All we can do is make our best educated guess.

    So, can you, or somebody here, explain to me about the apparent wear in the cheek? Was it the lighting? Isn't it the case that the cheek looks better on the 1918-S?

    Help a confused newbie, please!

    I don't think there is wear on the cheek. What I think you and the rest are seeing as wear is nothing more than a light reflection from the high point because of the angle of the lighting. At least that's how I interpretted it.
