Yes, I still have a couple of slabbed coins, have purchased slabbed coins, and use Vise-grips to crack those baby's open sometimes. <img src="styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" class="mceSmilieSprite mceSmilie1" alt=":)" unselectable="on" unselectable="on" /> Especially the Draped/Capped Bust Half Dollars so the edge (1809) can be checked.
