1908 Indian Head $10 Gold fake what to look for.

    So what should I look for if I think the coin is fake. I have checked the weight, diameter and wording. Everything is good but another collector had pointed out that many of them were faked so I'm just trying to make sure.

    i am no expert at all when it comes to coins but that obverse doesn't look real to me. that is just a guess on my part. i am sure others will chime in :)

    If it's real, it's an EF/AU that has been heavily polished. RUN!

    Ex-jewelry. Melt value only. No collector value due to damage (polishing). The obverse has been HEAVILY polished. (What a shame.)

    Thanks once again it is exactly what you all said. It is ex-jewelry and been polished. I posted it and others for sale and then another friend said he thought it mught be fake when he saw the pics. The one thing I do not want to do is sale something that it isn't! There is enough of that around already,
