It’s a very nice coin no matter what it is in. I’m not a pro for sure but this is a nice coin. Go with your gut… it’s probably usually right! We can all say red or blue etc but as another thread said, it’s what you choose for the “coin” not what it’s going for. Gosh hope this makes sense! :confused:o_O:)

Aaaahhh, the story of my life.

Good idea, but way too late to edit/modify the original post. Besides, the ideas that are flowing are fun to read.

Handsome devil. If you have graded coins, I'd want it graded.

I think you'll get 64 out of it.

As long as the bezel is not permanently attached I would go for it looks pretty
    nice :)

It is not about the Bezel coin. Pay attention.

No doubt a beautiful coin as I stated earlier, and it is your decision on what to do with
it. After reading what Randy wrote, slab the damn coin. Down the road you will be glad you did I have no doubt.

I agree with those that say slab to protect the coin and the memories with it. Sometimes something trumps making total financial sense, I think this is one of those times.

We cannot grade the coin from images. I would rather buy another coin than pay for the slab. However, I like the case of getting this one slabbed with a custom label (my layaway coin) to hand down. Ask for genuine only if the coin is going to be detailed.

That's some nice advice with a twist as to the direction I should take. Thank you for chiming in.

I forgot to mention something in my last post that is very noticeable to me. You purchasing this coin in 1974 as a young lad did an excellent job of preserving this coin that it still looks so good. My hat is tipped to you.

Thank you for noticing. Honestly, I didn't think twice about that. In hindsight now, I guess that feat was admirable.

My two cents, if you’re never going to sell it, get it slabbed, graded, and accept the results from the graders. I recently had several gold coins come back from the graders with UNC Cleaned details. Talk about disappointment! The cost to get one coin graded isn’t that costly! Just do it!
    Randy, heart warming story!

I'll take a guess that at least 60% of anyone collecting coins for over forty years who has never had opinions on their coins from one or more knowledgeable numismatists is in for a big surprise and it will not be good!

Like @Randy Abercrombie , not quite 60 years collecting, but closer to 60 than 50 years. And I understand what you're saying Insider. Hence my apprehension and hesitancy to submit. I'm a bit scared of the results.

Insider, most ppl around here are as sharp as a tack! They know what will grade well and what should be left in a 2x2. The rest of us learn the hard way! lol! Truth, it’s just someone’s opinion and as far as opinions go, there are worst things in life!
