1908 D Barber Quarter Error?

    I was going through my junk pile and saw this. What's going on? Looks almost like the bottom of a 1 under the 0.

    Very interesting barber halves stopped in 1915 but still could be something,pictures of the reverse.

    Reverse seems normal.The serifs for the 0/1 aren't as pronounced as the first 1, so I wonder if it was more of just a die crack that filled in metal. IMG_5109.JPG

    Probably a die chip or something similar. If that’s the base of the 1 where is the rest of it? A small piece would be sticking out of the top left side and the center would be filled solid.

    Keen eye catching that. I imagine you've done your due diligence and researched that coin, that year, so you found nothing? Um. I don't have a clue, but like you, it does look like the bottom serif of a number.
