Hi everyone, I would be so grateful for any opinions on this coin... Is it post mint damage? (the "98'" seems to be) or possibly a strike through? Thanks in advance[IMG] [IMG]

I'm going to guess a token maker did this to genuine Indian cent so not a Mint error.

Do you know which kind of token this may have been smooshed with to create the effect? thanks!

No and the "98" was not part of it as it is out of register to the underlying design. The over strike reminds me of an ornate French" style design. There are some fantastic Internet researchers on CT so I'll expect them to pin something down for you.

    Not a mint error.

possibly counter mark for the numbers, and I'll guess that the design was from a 'lucky coin' holder mis-hit
