I found this 1906 IHC that looks like it was struck through something.

Are you sure it's not corrosion?

That's why I said "looks like". I don't have enough experience with that to determine. The surface inside the anomalies seems to have some wear leading me to think that it has been there a long time. More feedback appreciated.

Can we get a full coin shot? I'm leaning towards either delamination or PMD.

Full photos of both sides would be helpful. I am leaning toward the lamination due to seeing some trace of IMA.

First photos show signs of Improperly Mixed Alloy better. Full photos are to reflective to see any. I now think it is corrosion damage. Your coin has been harshly cleaned.
If if was a lamination error coin there would be no value added due to the cleaning which has stripped this coin of its numismatic value.

Thank you. However my concern is with what the defect is and how it happened. I have no concern about value, dollar value that is. Thanks again for the feedback.

The light on the first was very bright. Here is one with better lighting. Note all the dirt around the devices. It doesn't look like harsh cleaning to me. 1906 IHC OBV Low Light.jpg

Yes i see that now.The rest of it is quite reflective. Maybe some recent handling.
What does the bottoms of the defects look like? Are they smooth or pitted?
I ask this because the defect areas are usually pitted if there has been corrosion in them and then cleaned out. And Usually smoother if struck through debris/ grease.

There are numerous things that it could be struck-through. All would leave it's own unique imprint.

It appears that there is a pattern and a depression. Plus it looks like wear consistent with the rest of the coin.

Can you post a photo of the area above the feathers and near OF?

There seems to be a line that goes into the O just there. Do you think that it is the edge of a lamination.
And where the defect goes all the way to the edge makes me think it is not PMD.

I don't think PMD either. There is a lot going on. I will get it back under the glass and see what else I can find. Thanks for all your feedback.

It looks like a detached lamination error but need better photos to be sure.
