Any thoughts on if this coin is worth grading? It seems to possibly have light PVC damage, along with the dirt. Thanks in Advance.

    Looks like environmental damage

Gotta agree with C-B-D. A dip might clean it up a bit but there may be environmental damage and looks like a rim ding at 12 o'clock.

I agree, but there is also a blue tint that reminds me of PVC damage. It does not have a rim ding on top, that is just dirt and shadows. I am thinking, if it could hit MS66(unlikely), it would be worth it to send to NGC for conservation and grading. The details are extremely sharp.

You can buy an MS63 for around $75.

If you think it has PVC and dirt, then a soak in acetone is definitely worth a shot. If the black is oxidation, then it would need a dip to even have a chance of improving its appearance. This might be a good coin to work on yourself.

Uggggh.awful looking coin. Leave it alone, and maybe it will go away.

I don't think a dip is going to help the coin. I would give it an acetone bath and put it away.

They won’t grade it with all that PVC residue on it.

Here is the coin after the acetone bath. Much better looking.

I don't care for the looks now either. Can you change it back ?

Seriously though, cleaner but still ugly.

Hit it with acetone again but don't dip it.

Will do. I only use dip on modern silver jewelry.

Still an ugly coin. Lusterless, and unattractive. Uggh!

You can make it look better but don't waste your money on grading. It's just not worth the price.
