Can anyone tell me about this? No one has any clue about this. Initials aren't engraved it's almost like they were in the mold of the press. Any opinions I would greatly appreciate thank you!
I agree the initials carved in to the coin is damage. It is still silver even though it is lower grade and damaged.
Definitely graffiti. A handmade love token. Interesting, if a bit crude. The initials may look raised because there is raised metal alongside the furrows which the tool made in the metal. It had to have been a very fine pointed tool, like an awl, which left very thin scratches. These will have raised metal on the sides of the furrows, where metal was displaced. Over time, with wear, these raised portions of the metal may have even been pushed back over the trough part of the scratches somewhat, making it look like it's all raised lettering, but I am pretty sure that if you look at it under good magnification, you'll see that it's not all raised metal. You'll should see the furrows made by the scratching tool.
