On June 8th, 2009 I wandered into a small yard, of an Alpena, Michigan gardener. Not only did I wander in, so did my Garrett Ace 250 metal detector. I have been metal detecting since the June of 2008. I can tell you, its an addicting hobby. I was walking down the city block to the gardeners house when I was stopped by the owner. She said "Hi! You must be Austin. Let me tell you something about my house." She blabbed on, on, and about how her house was built in the late 1910's, then she told me something about an empty lot, just on the corner of the street. She told me that a Flower house used to be there. She later went on to say, " I always bought my flowers form there. It was such a shame to see it burnt to the ground." Now, I was completely obsessed, into the strange twist of her house history, and the garden store across the block, on the corner. She started walking, I followed. She talked once again as we approached her house. She told me to 'DIG IN'. As I walked to the yard, she strolled into her house. I scanned the yard forever, in rows and rows of straight careful lines. I was getting ready to give when I got a really strong Copper signal, registering about 2-4 inches. I joyfully pulled out my 'Leshe Digger' and dug down. I cut a "C" shaped hole and pulled the plug, flap, up. I was shocked to see what I saw...." Awwww @#@## A quarter??!!" But As I picked it up. I noticed it said 'ONE CENT 1899', By then. I freaked. i will never forget that Warm June Day. Here are the pictures.
