I was not able to get back to the shop yesterday. I will try again today, still under a loupe, the coin displays smooth surfaces and bumpy almost cast or pitted devices. I will try and get the weight and diameter today.
Date position was not my primary concern. It was the spacing of the digits of the date. It can be seen best on the 2nd overlay with alignment based on the denticles - the discrepancy between the overlay and the coin for each individual numeral increased (going from first to last digit) as opposed to staying approximately the same.
If they sell a coin that turns out to be fake, no clause on their receipt will keep them from having to return the money. They can't pass legal title on a fake.
Whizzing is an erosion process and while it may increase the distance between design details when measured edge to edge - the positioning of what remains stays constant.
So, I bought it. And the forgers, used a VAM3a for the coin, I don't think that they fully copied the die, but, it was fashioned after it, this die doesn't show the bearded eagle but does show various die dots within the devices. Eagle's wing tip etc.
