LOL Yeah if a distant photo of an 1893-S with a steel ruler next to it doesn't verify authenticity I don't know what would! I love the pseudo- NGC, generic, pull apart slab its in too so you can get a better look at it. Makes sense. 49 bids, just sold a couple hours ago. To the OP, this is way too much work to have to do AFTER the sale. This was the sellers job to verify authenticity, not yours. It needs to be back on the road tomorrow and hope you can get your $ back.
You are correct Sir! I showed it to the dealers at the Peotone coin show Sunday and they all concurred with your original diagnosis. It was a lot of money for me and I didn't want to delay refund any further. What a nightmare I greatly appreciate your and the rest of the groups assistance. I truly learned a great deal and hope to frequent this site more often in the future.
I don't pay attention to ebay so hopefully someone on here watches to see how fast this "coin" gets relisted after you return it.
I'm curious what kind of feedback the OP gave the seller... https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_...back_page:RECEIVED_AS_SELLER&sort=RELEVANCEV2
I'm like that guy in the beer commercial. I don't usually buy coins online but when I do, I stay away from Ebay".
Hi Jack, I rarely provide feedback unless someone provides service above and beyond or does something super cool. After I initiated the return the seller sent the following message: "Hello George, Im very sorry, I try to put 100% authentic product on my ebay. Ive been doing coins for a long time and this one 100% got me. I paid top dollar for it. No worries on return and Im sorry it was not right." Could be a lie but possibly an honest mistake. They have 4500+ reviews with a 99.8% positive feedback and I already got my refund, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and letting it go.
I've been searching for this coin for two years and have re-established my alert. If it gets relisted I'll probably see it. I'll let you know if I do and will most certainly report it at that point.
93S is not difficult to locate. Expensive, yes, but readily available. But that is one to always buy graded.
