Certainly a market for them, I don't do errors but the red book (take it with a grain of salt) says 600. I'm sure there is wiggle room on the high end as potty pointed out
Thank you. I like those numbers
yes but that was ms61. This wont be an MS coin by any means
Thank you Evan
I had never seen you here before, or maybe just once or twice.
You hopped on the supporter train rather quick! Love to see it.
excited to see more from you because if you have other goodies like this i am dying to see!
Yeah I'm a newbie. I just joined on Saturday. I was impressed by the site so I signed up quick as a supporter.
really love that. I like it here a lot! Glad to have you here.
@Eric the Red Nice eror for sure. I'm not sure it would straight grade though. The fields look to have been cleaned, so it would likely receive a details designation. If it were mine and ANACS were running a special, I would include it for posterity. BTW-this is not double struck, it is called a "clip".
Thank you Tommy. Very informative.
It's interesting that it has any circulation wear at all. Who's gonna spend a coin like that?
I was thinking the same thing...the second strike seems to have better detail. Could that be the result of a really weak first strike? ...or something else?
I will upload some more photos from different angles and light . Thanks all.
Thanks I am going to post some more photos for you so we get to the bottom of this.
I don't like it either, and here's why. The wear on the main part of the coin is much different than the the wear on the error portion. Look at the denticles in particular. They're much LESS worn on the error portion. At 9 o'clock on the obverse, the denticles and rim are worn almost smooth. But if you look immediately above that, on the error portion, the denticles are much, much sharper. I would have expected even wear. The wear on the reverse at the point of the error, compared to the error portion, doesn't add up either. Look at the example @potty dollar 1878 posted. Even wear throughout. IMHO, the OP's coin is some kind of fake.
