It makes utterly no difference what the mintage may be, it's the number of survivors that matter. As you note, the 1877 IHC, 1919-S VDB and 1916-D Mercury dime are actually priced high due to the popularity of the series being collected despite large numbers of them being available. Of course, there's a lot else that goes into pricing than simply survivorship but the original mintage is meaningless by itself.
