its not the 8 over 7, but that last 8 does look cool, looks like someone at the mint took a punch to that last 8, and punch it 2 or 3 times
I can't match it to anything in my Snow book but he is showing 33 varieties for this date and my book is a bit old. If you have a date image that's in better focus, I'll check again.
I did notice that the last 8 doesn't touch in the middle. I took my digital microscope apart and put the tip of it on my phone to get those last couple pics
Idk I was just thinking because how thick the last 8 is and its thick on that too just throwing things out there. Guess its possible its nothing too
How could anyone tell from the photos if it wasn't slabbed? Here is my suspected 1888 S-2 RPD-02. It has the characteristic marks within the upper loops of the 8's as well as the misplaced '1' coming our of the front pearl. Had it for a long time, just haven't sent it away, as it is not totally agreed as a RPD by IHC experts/.
I sent all the pics to NGC to see if they will say what the think I doubt they will but I figured its worth a shot
